    Default Long distance renewal predicament

PA LTCF renews April 9, 2019. First problem is that we're in Florida now with no idea when we're going back. Second problem is our original LTCF was issued in Butler County, but we've moved to Armstrong and the Sheriff there said to just hang onto the Butler license until renewal, then come to Armstrong.

Is there any way to renew remotely? We just recently renewed our Utah by taking a selfie and filling out an online form. I figure I'll end up calling the Armstrong Sheriff to find out the process, but thought someone here might have had a similar circumstance.

    ^ He's right. Nope.

You do have a 6-month grace period to renew without having to reapply as a new applicant...but I also believe you cannot carry with an expired license. Can a law mind verify this? Sounds like there's an exception to get you off but you could still be arrested. If you're in Florida and have a valid Utah, you're good to go. Just get it taken care of ASAP when you return to PA in the next 6 months and be careful concealed carrying until you do.

    18 Pa.C.S. § 6106: Firearms not to be carried without a license
    (b) Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply to:
    (12) A person who has a lawfully issued license to carry a firearm pursuant to section 6109 (relating to licenses) and that said license expired within six months prior to the date of arrest and that the individual is otherwise eligible for renewal of the license.

Thanks again. Yeah, I was careful before, but now I'm especially careful anytime I carry, now that I'm down here. It's not like PA where I could OC if I felt like it. Not that I was any less careful or didn't have my head on a swivel even more so then.

Fortunately, the belly band you recommended is doing its job quite well.

There's a possibility we'll be staying. Mrs PAcarrier is digging the warm temps. I just wanted something to bridge the gap until I could qualify/apply for Florida.

The original mission was to help my Mom get her place fixed up so she could sell it. Almost done with that, so I don't know our "permanent" address yet.

Your bigger problem may be that only your LTCF is valid in FL.
Non resident Utah permits are not valid in FL, IIRC.

Renew vs apply...aren't they the same process? It's not like you would garner extra points for having one since 20xx (or 19xx). However...are both UT and FL licenses currently predicated on your current and active PA LTCF? If so, would they would all expire at the same time?
