    Default Transfer question

Buyer and seller are same state residents. But long rifle located in another state. Can sale be done without FFL and rifle sent directly to buyer from another state?
    Thank you.

My gut says this is not legal.
Even if it was, id consider it a no go. One should not buy a used firearm sight unseen

Smells fishy. Have seller send to himself in PA and it is much cleaner...

Seller can't mail rifle to someone else in another state without an FFL's involvement. Seller mailing to seller, yes (I think), then seller can deal with buyer face-to-face.

Sounds sketchy to me. If you are both PA residents...why does seller have firearm in another state? Sounds like an Armslist scam.

Buyer and seller reside in which state? And how does the seller own a rifle in another state?

Dual residence or firearm located at hunting camp, vacation home, etc. in some other state. If legal, most efficient way would be to do the check, then send the rifle to its new owner. Sadly, the law rarely allows for a logical course of action.

Agreed. Seller needs to get the gun into PA. Then you're good to go.

Seller sold his house in PA and moved to Florida 3 months ago. He is now FLORIDA resident. His rifle is still in PA at his father’s house. Buyer is also Florida resident. Seller will be visiting his father shortly in PA.
I suspected it may not be a “good to go” - it’s impossible to find definitive answer anywhere.
I guess shipping it to Florida first and doing FTF there afterwards is the only way to do it
