You will need to pop the ejector to sand the rails.
You did some real nice work on that piece, even if it's not a collector item.
Will be great to get it functioning.

You don’t need to spend Wilson Combat kind of money for a good running magazine.

These are great 1911 mags and have always run for me out of several different 1911’s.

Notice the position of the follower which acts more as a feed ramp in the 1911.

Do the polish work 1st if it’s still binding then the mag would be my next thing before gun smithing.

thanks! i usually work with wood. this is my first shot at metal. My goal here is to get a functioning pistol. it doesn't have to run 100%. it just has to run.

Looks like you're 95% there, just a little more work and I bet it runs better than expected.

heres 20 minutes with 1000 grit. i can work out most of the low spots except for the one indicated by the red arrow. thats a significant low spot when you run your finger across it. how do you work that or do you even work it out? is that something you leave alone?

Keep at it until you get a mirror shine uniform across the majority of the rails.
Any deep pits still untouched are too low to cause a problem.
I would just sand them by hand but it's not really necessary.

You're going to want to shine the tracks on the inner sides of the slide.
Either with the sand paper or with the drill and the buffing pads.
Sanding the rails on the lower frame is more important than the underside of the slide.
The underside of the slide probably doesn't touch much when it functions since it rides on the inner tracks.

I decided to polish a bit more than i had planned. Good thing about this practice gun is i can learn new skills without costing myself money.
