    It'll work faster, but it isn't aggressive enough to hurt anything. It's a go-to "not in a hurry" solution. So it might eat all the rust in 30-40 minutes, but if you're starting a project on a Sunday and might not get back to it until Saturday it's a much better solution than something like naval jelly.

    If you can soak it, yes. But in a situation where you might be relying on a soaked rag to keep the liquid on the fastener you'll want something more aggressive.

    Evaporust, like HKUsp recommended, works great here.

    But if you have nuts/bolts or something with surface rust that you don't want to take a sander to? White vinegar bath and just leave it be.

    any guess what the grips are made out of? look like bone. i dont like them so contemplating on whether or not to deal with the mold.

    Needle prick test.

    Heat a needle up, push in the back of the grip. If it goes in, it's plastic. If not, it's bone.

    Decide from there.

    The grips I'd say if you don't like them be done , on the flip side all that rust made me research and I found this site ..... lot of good options for rust removal and protection.

    good call! thats how i used to test for ivory.

    i guess i should start looking into bluing as well. wife will be happy to see me use the stove for a change.

    they remind me of stag handled knives and i never liked them at all.
