Re: 7.62x39 AR15 Pistol - Add Your Input for an Affordable Build
I've decided that I will not be making this a "budget build" - I'm building it the way I want it - within reason.
I am so pleased with how well my choice of muzzle device works to tame muzzle flash on my 7.5" 5.56 pistol that I'm going to drop some cash on the 30 cal version for this build.
The one on top is what I have on my 5.56 pistol.
The one on the bottom is the new version of it.
Should run between $100-$110 and worth every penny IF you don't want fireballs.
(sorry about the gigantic image)
I'm waiting until I have this muzzle device AND a barrel in my hands before deciding on a hand guard - that way I'll have measurements for the EXACT length I need to have this comp tucked slightly inside the hand guard.

What size barrel you plan on going with?
Bear Creek has some ridiculously low prices on barrels right now and I have read and seen some good things regarding their barrel quality and accuracy recently especially in the big bore AR calibers. If they are doing well with .458 socom I'm sure they have 5.56 and 7.62x39 down.

Re: 7.62x39 AR15 Pistol - Add Your Input for an Affordable Build
Two posts back - I'm going 7"/7.5"/8" to keep it as short as I can.
I will be looking for M4 contour or similar as opposed to the more common "heavy" barrel profile.
I have a heavy barrel on my 5.56 and it's... heavy - especially after adding that CQB comp.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Looks like KAK has a 8" option that looks along the line of what your looking for.

If your willing to go a bit larger I know Faxon makes a 10.5" in their gunners line which are excellent barrels. I've dealt with a few of them in the past in 5.56 and they are light.Join the GOA & save $5.00. https://www.gunowners.org/mac-subs-join-goa.htm

Slap yourself. That is the company formerly known as Tactical Ambush. While I had some decent accuracy barrels from for x39, they had gas ports way too small and wouldn’t own up to it. Eventually their shitty workmanship and shady business dealings caught up with them. They closed for a while and left everyone hanging on with “lifetime” warranties, unfulfilled orders and other crap. Stay away. You’d be better off getting a KAK valueline or bucking up for a Faxon.

Re: 7.62x39 AR15 Pistol - Add Your Input for an Affordable Build
During a Customer Service design (arguement), the rep blended my setup claiming their barrels for 7.62x39’had .072 gas ports since that was the milspec. I told him there was no such thing for the caliber in the Stoner rifles. Moments later the rep posted on ARFCOM asking about proper gas port size. Ended up having to drill out 3 nitrided barrels (I question if they were actually treated as well)

Re: 7.62x39 AR15 Pistol - Add Your Input for an Affordable Build
Consider me slapped. Oooh!
Yeah, I was hesitant because of the "unknown".
My first thought was, "meh, it's just a barrel - cheap probably doesn't equate to pinpoint accuracy, but I won't be shooting it more than 50 yards anyway, and there's no moving parts, so how bad could it be?"
I'll look at something else.
I don't have an issue paying $100-ish for a barrel, but $180+ is more than I care to spend.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
