Here's what mine looks like with a hand guard on. (this isn't the hand guard I'm using, but it's very close)
Unfortunately, a lot of the "angle" portion is hidden, which takes away from the look I was going for.
It's not the end of the world if I can't get a more pronounced "cone" look - this isn't too bad.

If I still had my shop set up.... it may be possible to have it turned on a lathe to extend the taper depending on how thick the wall is

That is going to be loud as Hell and I'm not sure what kind of recoil mitigation your going to get from it. I bet a 74 style brake would look pretty sweet on a short set up like that.

Hey EM this adapter should allow you to fit this booster.

This adapter is intended to fit M24x1.5 RH muzzle devices to a 5/8-24 RH threaded barrel.

Overall that looks really intimidating! Makes it look like a mini shotgun when you first see it. Have to see how it sounds and shoots.

OK, before I get too excited... if a "cone" flash hider is not a viable option, I would be cool with the M92/M85 Booster style look.
The length would probably work great too, since it would start back inside the hand guard.

However, I don't know if they would affect function. I never really looked into what a muzzle "booster" is, and now that I've read a quick explanation, I don't know if this type would work or not. (provided the thread pattern can even be made to work)
Would a booster cause issues with the gas system? Should I just get this idea out of my head?

There are companies like Noveske who make boosters for AR pistols, the KX3 and 5 series is a booster that also works like a linear comp to push the noise away from the shooter. When your dealing with a short barrel rifle or pistol the booster helps with the dwel time and cycling reliability due to the gas port being so close to the end of the barrel. Technically this should not screw with the operation of the firearm.

Putting a suppressor on would do the same thing just amplified sending more gas back towards the shooters face via out the charging handle port. However there are ways to deal with that too.

Was looking at other parts for other guns when I remembered that LaRue Tactical triggers are now about $80 - single stage or 2 stage.
Unless I come up with something else, I may get the 2 stage.

I have a Patriot Ordnance Factory 3.5 lb drop in trigger in my 5.56 AR pistol and I like the trigger in general, but I'm not a fan of the narrow trigger face.

The actual hand guard I'll be using will arrive on Monday.
After I get that and hand fit it to see how things look with the (above pics) flash can I got, I'll decide if I want to proceed with the above ideas for the "Russian-look" muzzle device.

Don’t forget, you’ll want a trigger that still strikes the firing pin with enough force to not cause light strikes. Even an Enhanced FP can still light strike if the hammer doesn’t have the power behind it.
