Re: AK 47 Buttstock
esh thanks guy. They have quite a bunch of stuff. I'm trying to stick with the wood if possible.
I could mill a section out of the stock butt stock and increase the heel to toe and the OAL but don't
want to do that unless necessary.

Re: AK 47 Buttstock
AK 47 is a Russian design. Russia has brutal winters calling for thick layers (back in the day) of military clothing. Thus the shorter length of pull. Recoil is so mild, the heel of the butt can be placed high on the shoulder to somewhat compensate. The whole world, including hot climes, has accepted and worked with the original design.

Re: AK 47 Buttstock
Nate, thanks, I'll try Ironwood. I know I can conjure up a piece of rough maple and make a buttstock but I'd rather avoid it if possible.
The NATO being longer just makes good sense compared to the Warsaw length. I've been through the 03, M1, M14, Large pin HBAR and
the M4, and a SKS, But this VSKA is my first time owning any of the AK variants. Thanks.

Re: AK 47 Buttstock
Bang, thanks for the input. By the way...you mention the "thick layers" and that's true but also Russia (plus other countries) use to cloth their military (civilians too) with these long, heavy, wool coats (some had capes too) called a "Greatcoat". You rattled my memory with your post and I was trying to find this book called The Greatcoat or something along that line. It was a book based on the Russian winters and her soldiers and what they did to survive. So anyway thanks!
