Yeah, mine has been sitting about a year while I gather the other parts and tools I need.

When it comes to getting an 80%...get it while you still can.

We are both on the same page...it would cost over $500 for jig and tools just to set up. That's why I've been back and forth about buying 80% lowers.

This can be said about anything firearm related.

The same can be said about any tools.
Automotive, household repairs, torches, saws, wood working.
Amortize the cost of the tools and equipment over the life of the tools.
That way you can "build em cheaper and stack em deeper.

    Good luck.

I am in the same boat...I'd like to mill a few 80% lowers just for the fun of doing it, but I need a router, jig and ready mill attachment plus some bits and clamps. I figured a little less than $500 to get milling! I just don't know if I want to spend that kind of money on the 3-5 lowers I figured that I would cut. I can but Ando's for under $50 all day online but damn dealers are charging $40-75 to transfer these days! I either need to spend the money and get milling or wait for someone local to sell me a lower face to face!

Don't forget to add the cost of hard coat finishing to keep your butter soft lower from egging out it's holes.

Don't put too much thought into it. I know people that bought a simple drill press jig for <$100 . The trigger pocket is nothing but relief. The few holes that require drilling are the only thing that requires remote precision. It's not difficult.

Lowers aren't hard coated. Maybe high end stuff is, but your average lower is not hard coated no matter what people tell you.
