Allentown writing bill to urge state to ban firearms in city hall.
At last night's Allentown City Council meeting, during Courtesy of the Floor.
A member of the public requested the city council ban guns at meetings.
The council responded that they are looking into the matter and requesting the state allow them to ban firearms.

In other news, Councilman Daryl Hendricks said he is writing a bill that will urge the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to ban the open carry of firearms by private citizens into a city hall. Currently under Pennsylvania law, firearms are permitted in a city hall. Residents of Pennsylvania who are 21 years of age or older and legally own a gun are able to wear it openly on their person.

I am sure this will take place over and over in our anti 2A anti gun area's. Once they get a foot in the door it will domino across the Commonwealth.

Re: Allentown writing bill to urge state to ban firearms in city hall.
This is exactly why the Pittsburgh pre-emption violation nonsense needs to die ASAP.
Can someone remind me whatever happened to the bill that allowed cities to be sued for pre emption violations?! It passed and then......

Got repealed because it was legitimately unconstitutional (multiple unrelated laws on a single bill)

Don't have a Facebook account, so I can't blast WFMZ-TV over this glaring error: "Residents of Pennsylvania who are 21 years of age or older and legally own a gun are able to wear it openly on their person."

This is all part of the "grassroots" plan to have us putting out 2A infringements everywhere. Seems like this latest is headed to Harrisburg, and not a unilateral ban to be enacted in Allentown. But, that could come next.

OP here,
For anyone who could not; or did not want to; spend time watching the full video on the city's website.
Here is a shortened clip of it that gets right to the point:

Re: Allentown writing bill to urge state to ban firearms in city hall.
It sounds like their legal opinion told them "no, you can't ban it."
This idiot citizen needs to sit down and shut the fuck up.
That said, I think their next meeting is on the 20th and OP is going to start a thread to look for support from Lehigh Valley poofers to help show up and either speak or just show support. Stay tuned!Life has a melody. Not great, not terrible.
