I was at the DELCO DMV office recently and they had one too, BUT it appears someone beside the DMV put it there because of the several "do not" (food drink etc) type stickers the gun one was the only one on the outside of the glass.

short answer.. NO Per 18PA 6120 Preemption

The property owner might be able to .. but if leased to the State for DMV then 6120 SHOULD be the law.

Someone on PAFOA had a FOIA into PennDOT and they were playing games with their answers.. like it must have been the property owner that posted the sign.. but members from across the commonwealth went and looked and every DMV Office is exactly alike.. a white circle around a white pistol with a white slash.. almost all posted on the inside of the glass on the entrance door

I agree they have no authority, but disagree on your citation.

6120 applies to "counties, municipalities, or townships". DMV is none of those.

It's the (m.3)(2) amendment to 6109 that binds "any Commonwealth agency" from "regulating the possession of firearms in any manner inconsistent with the provisions of this title."

I was at the Media Delco PennDot a couple weeks ago, and they have one but it's on the outside of the glass and it's a black gun in a red circle with a red slash. Same one that's been there for at least a few years. There are 4 similar red circle ones on the inside of the glass, something like no food, no cell phones, etc. The one on the outside about no guns is close but not exactly the same as the 4 inside the glass, nor is it lined up with the other perfectly, it's below the others. It looks to me like someone beside PennDot put it there but PennDot either didn't notice or likes it there. You can make it out in this Google Street View shot from July 2017.

I was there two weeks ago registering for my Real ID and did notice a no gun sign. They also have a no beverage sign, but I walked right in with my Wawa 16oz coffee.
