Re: Pittsburgh City Council Hearing date set
One councilman - Coghill i believe kept calling firearms automatic till he was corrected then said all semi autos should be banned. One of the councilmen (forget which) discounted Lotts charts saying all data can be fudged to what they want to say.
Also the question was directed to Councilwoman Strassburger (who was planning on leaving the meeting shortly) is being they want to ban certain guns - why wouldn't they be banning all guns (forget the wording exactly) She did not answer but upped herself and exited.Last edited by Just1more; February 13th, 2019 at 10:52 AM.

Re: Pittsburgh City Council Hearing date set
Again, what you saw happen to John Lott is the only way that the lefties can deal with him. His academic work is out there and no one has laid an honest glove on it. I would love to see video of the tyrants storming out and fearing being photographed and taped. That is what citizens need to see. The mainstream media has a ton of power but does not entirely control the narrative, yet.
The one councilman who could not be bothered with the distinction between auto and semi auto finally defaulted to ban semi autos, intentionally or not, revealed the the true agenda. Ban those, then start taking any high power rifle that can be fitted with a scope as a sniper rifle, then semi auto shotguns, then shotguns under a certain length, then all shotguns. You know, "progressive", just like the Anti-Constitution crowd likes to call themselves.
Finally, I would rally in Pittsburgh again if they pass this mess as it seems they are hell bent on doing.

Re: Pittsburgh City Council Hearing date set
The press reporting on this after the rally was been not as uniformly bad as I had expected. But as these bills come closer to adoption, sides are going to be taken and the media will become the eager and willing weapon of the Mayor and the Council. The PennLive report was a small example. Kim's comment"taken out of context"?, of course. The disinformation, outright lies, and selective coverage are going to become the norm and it helps to understand that and take it in stride. The Second Amendment Community has never got a fair shake in the print and broadcast media. Now digital media is ganging up and deplatforming and censoring the Second Amendment Community. But new free speech platforms are developing to counter Twitter and You Tube. So examples of bad political behavior will make the rounds.

Re: Pittsburgh City Council Hearing date set
So, what are we going to do about it?
The reality is that progressives will continue to be elected to city council because the major cities (Philly, P-burgh, Allentown) are majority Democrat in terms of voter registration.
In a democrat controlled city, our only recourse is to sue if in fact they pass unlawful ordinances (and they will, for sure).
It can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to pursue this legally. I don't think that we at PAFOA could come up with more than a few thousand. So, we can support FOAC/PrinceLaw (even though some have us have issues with things previously done & said) and we could ask some of the national orgs to get involved directly. Forget the NRA. They have their own thing which may or may not include p-burgh. GOA will listen to our request. The Second Amendment Foundation will listen. And JPFO will listen. I think we need to be reaching out to those three. (anyone willing?)
That said, we really can't do anything legally until the ordinances are actually passed. We can then ask the DA to prosecute, and begin building a coalition of the above organizations to file private criminal and civil complaints.
Ultimately, if any such case is brought forward, the appeal process would end with the PA Supreme Court. The problem... The PA Supreme Court is made up of 5 democrats and 2 republicans (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...#Current_Bench)Help us restore election integrity in PA. Join PA Voters United

Well, I, for one, am going to defy their laws openly and publicly the day they go into force.
Life has a melody. Not great, not terrible.
