I don't consider it a weakness any greater than any other weakness of consumer grade safes. There isn't an average safe that can't get cut open like a tuna can in a couple minutes. Smash and grab scum meth heads aren't coming prepared to exploit any safe, much less an override feature.

Considering the keypad is many times more likely to fail then a break in I'll take the key.

A safe should be one layer of security.

silly yet serious question: did you try replacing the battery?
I've had both my safes act wonky when the battery was too low to trigger the lock solenoid.

Wonder if a safe manufacturer could be held civilly accountable for someone being killed because they couldn't get their safe open and defend themselves. State requiring that kind of inaccessible storage as well.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

No, they never guaranteed that it would work 100% of the time. In fact, they have a warranty that in effect acknowledges that the thing might break.

I tried a new code and technique I found on the Internet today. Nope.

There is a locksmith in MN who says he can open a Cannon safe in 5 minutes or less and to contact him. He doesn't leave a way to contract him but I did track him down online. I may try to reach him tomorrow. Meanwhile, I'm still planning on contacting a local locksmith.
