Default Maybe a Dumb Rifle Shipping Question

I have to ship one rifle back the manufacturer for repair and another rifle I've sold to an FFL for transfer.

Can I have my wife drop them off at the UPS service center for shipping even though my name is on return label for both?

If the firearms are rifles, you can mail them thru USPS.

    https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/may-...postal-service

A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun.

    I can't see why not.

The one going back to the manufacturer is using a preprinted UPS label, and the other is still only $23 insured for $800. Plus the UPS customer center is more convenient than a PO since it's very close to my wife's place of employment.

YES. both are LIC as a reg FFL and MFR. Just make sure you have tracking with adult sig req.

ALSO IF you use USPS be sure to bring a PS-1508 Statement by Shipper of Firearms. Copys of the FFL they are going to are not req but can ease the process. Along with a postmaster with a clue.

Thanks all. I misread the UPS site. They require notification of shipping a handgun, but site says nothing about notifying of shipping a rifle. That's where I thought we might have a hang up. But irrelevant.

If it's going back with a preprinted UPS label then anyone can drop it off at the customer service desk when they are open for receiving packages. Slap the label on the box with the rifle in it (put the rifle in the original mfg box then inside another box so that it is not as obvious that it is a rifle) and take it to UPS.
