    That changes things........If it is a period scope from the 50's definitely leave it.

    AS IS is recommended.Removing scopes or parts that have been attached for a long time can expose pitting and or rust that could have been there long before any of these parts were installed thus hiding any imperfections.If it aint broke dont fix it !

    Call it "Mid-Century Modern" and add $250 to the price.

    Seriously, if it's period that will be all the more attraction to a buyer.

    IMHO I would leave the Weaver on the rifle.. and you say the original scope is also available .. Ditto to above ^

    Those 4 holes for the scope took the value of the gun from $5000 and up down to about $2500.

    Collectors won't even look at a 52 with extra holes.
