For me, it's hard to justify buying a DB9.

Diamondback has *probably* worked the initial problems out now that Taurus owns them, but it's still a cheap crude pistol which can't run +p ammo & you probably won't enjoy shooting.

Find something else the same size, thats the justification. Hardly crude, and self defense doesn't need to feel good.

Btw never have I ever run +p or +p+ ammo and it hasn't effected my life one bit.

Also, cheap, yea maybe. For now.
Current prices are already starting to trend to the $400 area for newer models.

One of my ex's has one that hasn't been a problem for her. But like all guns, your mileage may vary.

If that is all a person can afford, so be it. But I think a person might be better off with a more established manufacturer & model.

S&W Shields occasionally are on sale for dirt cheap. Springfield XDS models are a little more, but if you time a purchase with a Springfield promotion you can get extra goodies(I got 4 extra mags, holster, and mag carrier). Glock 43 being Glock, they are good guns, but typically the most expensive of the genre.

if you didn't know the db9 is crude, maybe you never handled a modern, well constructed firearm. while we're at it, someone should explain to you the difference between affect & effect.

yep, it's small. that is literally all it the DB9 has going for it as the reputation of diamondback firearms speaks for itself & even the manufacturer will tell you they self destruct with +p ammo.

is pie plate accuracy acceptable? do you like defensive ammo that doesn't expand or penetrate? are you ok defending your life with a gun that will "probably" work when you need it?

if you're holding on to your db9 as an investment, maybe it's woth $400+ to felons who can't purchase them for $200 on gunbroker. you're the icp fan & would have more firsthand knowledge about that than anyone else here.

So quick update for anyone interested, I did get a chance to check our the diamondback db9 in person but not to shoot one yet. Quality seems comparable to a p3at or lcp. Didn't get to fire one but judging by the grip, I bet it won't feel the prettiest. The grip feels long from the forward edge to the backstrap. I'm thinking a Hogue grip sleeve would help a lot in hand comfort and shot placement.
