Holsters that go on your AR, knives that stick out of the base pad out of your gun (how do you reload?), there are clearly much worse products.
Your defending this stupid? OK I'm game so me something worse.

    Agree.

Every JAKIII rifle gets treated to the bore snake (soaked with Hoppes 9 followed by Rem Oil) after every range trip.

i use $3 knockoff bore snakes for a quick clean or to dust off a rifle that has been sitting for a while, like my mosin since ammo prices climbed. basically to clean the dust out and apply a little fresh lube or grease to the barrel.
only time i ever had a problem was on an official boresnake .22lr which tore in half because i kept pulling and she wouldn't go through.
any time i do any serious shooting, out come the rods and brushes.

My RRA AR with chrome lined barrel will never feel a rod or metal brush.

meh, i'm forcing 55-62grain of copper and lead through them with some tens of thousands of PSI. they can deal with a rod and brush if thats what it takes to make them shine.

i've also thought and remember all my firearms came with cheap cable locks that are pretty useless, at least to me. they seem chintzy and easy to break, almost like they're thrown in to meet some mandate somewhere.
thats a pretty bad product imo.

it's not the chrome you should sweat this, it's a stainless.
