Probably not and according to the above video, they were not good guns.

I'm curious to see the video Ian does on the P7M10. I shot one back in the 90's and it worked fine. I liked it a lot, but didn't have the money to buy one. I've never seen one in a gun shop, new or used, however. A few years back Tanner's had a bunch of PSPs for $400. Should have bought one then, but was there buying something else.

The P7 was one of three pistols selected from those submitted in a 1970s competition and adopted by the 10 states of the former West Germany for their Landespolitzei (or, "state police"). States could choose from either the Walther P5, a modernized P38/P1; the SIG-Sauer P6, a slightly modified P225, and the HK P7. Most states chose the P7, a couple selected the P5, and Nordrhein-Westfalen (NW, sometimes NRW) was the sole state to go with the P6, although some federal police (Bundespolitzei) departments also selected one or more of the three pistol models.

The acronym PSP stands for Polizei-Selbstlade-Pistole—"police self-loading pistol."

I had two at one point. They are very good pistols.

1) Those with a date code IB and earlier (1982) have small hairline cracks in the welds of the breech block. HK apparently says it's not a problem, but they changed their weld techniques so that later models didn't develop the cracks.
2) they can be fired 3 different ways: a) squeeze lever, pull trigger b) squeeze trigger and then pull lever c) squeeze lever and trigger simultaneously.
3) On P7m8, the firing pin bushing should be periodically checked and replaced. It was a broken FPB that directly led to the murder of a NJ State Trooper. Bushing broke after a few rounds fired, rendering the pistol inoperable. Trooper was shot point black with shotgun by assailant.
4) Do not scrub the gas piston. Those flanges are held to a tolerance of thousandths of an inch.
5) The trigger region *will* get hot after about 40 rounds. VERY HOT.
6) Compared to modern pistols, they are not quite as durable. The NJSP took very meticulous records on round counts. After less than 20,000 rounds, the pistols were finished. The Beretta 92, G17, HK USP pistols are just warming up after that sort of round count.

These guys *had* USP45 tradeins for $460, but it seems they're gone. They do, however, have HK45s.

Personally, I'd choose a Mark 23 over both.
