Bought a pristine P7M8 around 2001 or so for not too much money. It was sitting in a case and nobody wanted it because it was more than a new Glock. Then when the surplus ones came out of Germany which people call "PSP's" I snagged one as I knew the supplies were limited. It may be a kind of "dead end" in firearm design, and a bit heavy, but they are great shooters, very reliable, and very accurate.

Last I looked there were still quite a few police agencies around the world using the P7, so wouldn't be surprised if more surplus comes to market.

They went to them after Trooper Lomanaco was out shot and killed by radicals on I-80. I am not familiar what semi autos were available in the mid ‘80’s, but I am suprised the P7M8 came out on top. They had to carry four mags on their belt.

I had a chance to get one new in the early ‘90’s through a blue label style deal and passed (probably because of a women, a car or a shore house). I kick myself now looking at the current prices.

Even though they're more limited in quantities than some of the other P7s, they don't really fetch a premium. They made the slide much chunkier than the 9mm guns to beef it up for .40, and so it lost some of the low bore axis, streamlined appeal.
