Default Selling a pistol to a New York resident?

I live in NE PA and would like to sell my pistol to a New York state resident. According to NYS laws I am unable to transport my pistol into NY for any reason except for competition. Does anyone know how I could do this? Am also wondering if this would involve both a NY and PA FFL dealer? If so that would tack extra $$ onto the deal.
    Thanks for any help.

Must go through PA FFL mailed to a NY FFL if I remember correctly, I am sure I will be corrected if wrong.

You would have to mail the handgun to a NY FFL.

Pick a NY FFL call them and see if they will do the transfer. They take care of the instant check. Your buyer must then go to his local licensing department and buy a $10 purchase document. When he takes the purchase document to the FFL and passes the instant check he will take possession of the pistol. Then he must bring the pistol to the local licensing office to be inspected and registered to his license and have his license ammended to reflect the make, model, caliber and serial number (another $10). What county in New York are you selling to?

Your right. Only an FFL dealer can send a pistol through the mail.
So 1 in PA and 1 in NY

only FFLS (this does not include C&R FFLs) can MAIL a handgun via USPS.

only the USPS is "mail"...remember, words mean things, mail is USPS, not other shippers...it pays to be precise here

YOU can ship the handgun via UPS/Fedex or any other carrier that allows it, most have restrictions on from WHERE they accept handguns, like at main hubs only, not UPS stores and such.

be aware that under federal law you must tell the carrier that there is a firearm in the package, you cant list it as "machine parts" ir "precision hole puncher" or something else.

also note that some FFLs are jackasses and only accept guns from other FFLs, check with the buyers FFL for thier restrictions.

Thanks for the responses. The potential buyer and I scrubbed the transaction after finding out the additional costs involved. Looks like I am only going to buy and sell in PA.

    Thats funny!

But owning gun in NY is PITA.
Which is one of MANY reasons why I moved out of the BS state...

Also, if your selling firearm to NY resident, some other BS rules also apply, like they can't have more then 10rds in magazine, can't have folding/collapsble stock, no bayonet lug, yada, yada, yada...

They incorporated the federal AWB into state law...except it doesn't expire...and the keep trying to make it worse.
