Re: Would You Replace Your CCW If ...
Life is too short to carry a Ruger. My first carry gun, before I knew anything about anything, was a Ruger SR9c. I had problems with light primer strikes that one trip back to the factory didn't fix. I didn't trust it, so I didn't keep it. One of the guys in my constable basic training had an SR9, and it was a jam-o-matic. Sorry, but when I think of Ruger, I don't think reliable semi-auto pistol. Glock, Sig, Springfield, HK, S&W, there are all kinds of better choices out there.

How does one ethically "get rid of" a gun that one finds unreliable?

Re: Would You Replace Your CCW If ...
I traded my SR9c in at Ace. They have a gunsmith on staff and they have a warranty on each used gun that they sell. They made money off of my original purchase, the trade-in, and the sale of the used gun, and they were willing to take it back and deal with it. I lost money on it, but at least I didn't screw anybody.

Re: Would You Replace Your CCW If ...
I carried a Kahr CW9 for a few years, put thousands of rounds through it, very accurate shooting gun. The trigger bar broke, Kahr fixed it free no problem. Got it back and it shot as good as ever, but, in the back of my brain, it had broke and I wasn't able to trust it anymore. I know there are tons of things that break and get fixed and provide many years of service after, but for whatever reason the Kahr is a safequeen now.
I've carried my Ruger SP101 .357 ever since.

Flat spring??????
Bill Ruger designed everything with music wire coil springs. Flat springs were notorious for breaking in the Colt revolvers. That's why the Blackhawk , Security-Six and every other revolver had coil springs.I don't speak English , I talk American!

Re: Would You Replace Your CCW If ...
put it to the side and pull it apart later on, save the powder and burn the primer out. sprinkle the casings and bullets along my front walk.
you have ol' reliable and she broke some parts...but do you actually trust the newcomer?
life is life, make sure everything is in good working order and continue on. buy a new gun so you can have a new gun but Xrnds in you might find it also jams or breaks and needs repairs.
personally i try to always assume that i'll be lucky to get a single round off. usually the one in the chamber will fire, usually.
that being said, there is better chance it'll go bang then there is your car will start. There is no way to make it out alive...
