Re: Would You Replace Your CCW If ...
I too have an LC9S. The first one was a prize at a Friends of the NRA dinner. Was reliable, but rusted. Swapped it out for a cerakoted version that had feed issues and was returned to Ruger. (That's the one lost by FedEx and discussed in a thread on these pages) The replacement from Ruger has been fine.
To answer the question about getting rid of a problem gun...here's what happened to me. About year ago, I got a S&W Bodyguard 380. It had all kinds of problems from feeding, to stovepipes to taking 3 or 4 strikes before firing. I only managed to get a couple rounds out of a mag to work. Anyhow...my local dealer sent it back to S&W who returned it with a clean bill of health. I traded it in on the spot. The dealer knew, S&W said it was good to go...so I have no bad feelings about that.

The LC9S is a fine firearm. But I have to admit, the Shield 'feels' a bit more robust and more like a duty firearm than a carry piece.

Springs should be replaced after 1000 rounds, including mag springs.

If you have lost confidence either drop it at a reputable gun smith or mail it back for a full going over..

Is your EDC your range gun? Echoing another poster, I'll put 3-4 hundred rds thru my edc, and if it doesn't fail I call it good. The most range action it sees after that initial break in period is maybe a mag dump once a month or so to recycle the ammo.

Is the doubt in your head or is it in the gun? If you replace the common parts which will wear after heavy use, do it, check it out, and make a determination. I carry a Glock 26 but also a Steyr C9...sweet gun.

Re: Would You Replace Your CCW If ...
If a pistol malfunctions, even once, out it goes. Pistols are relatively inexpensive tools, and the lives of my family and myself are irreplaceable. I don't have 'range guns' and 'carry guns' and 'home defense guns'. They all get carried, all go to the range, and are all suitable for home defense.
I've owned a lot of pistols, and have had very very few problem guns. But I do stick with reputable brands and models (Beretta 92, Colt 1911's, *some* SIG models, revolvers, HKs, etc).
Just how I see things.

Re: Would You Replace Your CCW If ...
not that i would tell any of you how to freedom.
however i am curious, is there a grace period for new firearms that haven't been broken in yet? i've yet to buy anything except a pump shotgun that didn't malfunction at least once when new. (i don't own a single shot anything) i've even had problems with a bolt action rifle before.
my VP9 failed to feed regularly for a few hundred rounds. that aside i found i tend to thumb the slide release so it doesn't stay back on last round.
this is all a good reason to carry a backup weapon though. like a derringer which wouldn't need to feed or cycle. and a knife. There is no way to make it out alive...
