    Default Maverick 88 Reborn!

So, my dad had this Maverick 88 in a soft case in his garage for about a year now without touching it. It had that god awful glossy blue finish, a falling apart tacstar side saddle and a Hogue 12" LOP stock. The issue with the 12" LOP stock is that my dad is 6' 2" but he put the short stock on it because his wife can't shoulder the longer one. Well, I was bored and decided I wanted to refinish something. I sandblasted the barrel, magazine tube, receiver and bolt then blued them all matte black, added a Mesa Tactical shell carrier and a collapsible stock. The M88 is the only Mossberg that makes sense to put a pistol grip on and now my dad AND his wife can use the same gun comfortably.

Behold! I used a tacstar stock adapter, A2 covered in grip tape, M4 stock and buffer tube that I had in my parts and a limbsaver M4 pad.

Wait telescoping stocks are to fit multiple shooters of different sizes?! I thought they were just to aid in assault...

Looks great! I assume you said only the maverick should have a pistol grip because of the cross bolt safety?

Yep, Mavericks and 870s handle fine with vertical pistol grips. 500s, 590s etc, it's a mistake. I have the wrong stock on one of my 500s, plan on swapping it for a Magpul SGA setup.

Thank you! Yes, that's exactly why. I've got a 500, 590 and I'd have an 88 as well if they had left hand safety versions. I'd love to make one of these for myself but I'll probably try to find a used 870P to do it with. I know I can get a left hand safety for the 870.

My 500 came with the flex furniture and I wasted $80+ On the AR stockto find out I hated it and put the 14” LOP stock back on but I’d like to eventually get the 12” since I’m a little short at 5’5”
Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.

I have a used Hogue 12" stock in my spare parts pile. PM me if you want it. What didn't you like about the AR stock? You may want to look at the Magpul SGA if you haven't already. Adjustable length of pull (I like 13" personally) and the cheek riser kit seems like a nice addition for when you use a red dot but still want to get your cheek low.
