Rusted steel target.
Well after 7 months I was able to make it down to PAhuntngfools farm and pick up the steel target I left there after the central PA shoot. He had stored it in one of his barns along with all the other stands and targets used at the shoot, unfortunately due to the never ending rain the barn did flood a few times making a pretty unfriendly environment for an AR500 target.
I had to pound the 2x4 out with a 10lb mallet from the bottom stand and use the same mallet and a cats paw to get the stop off the mount. The carriage bolts were rusted in and had to be knocked out from the rear as well.

Thank the good lord for power tools!
Lucky for me it was all surface and it cleaned up very smooth and as good as new. I might have to get a new set of carriage bolts which is a small price to pay.

Re: Rusted steel target.
I've been out shooting mine since I got my P229. I know it's too cold to repaint, and I worried that I may have to fight a rust issue. Nicely done

I cleaned out the square hole cuts for the carriage bolts using a small knife and I you wouldn't believe how much lead I pulled out of both sides. Crazy how much gets in behind the face of the bolts and works it's way in.

Re: Rusted steel target.
Its a target not a car, SHOOT IT
A few hits and that thing will self clean.

I'm with Bogey but I'd wirebrush it so it held some paint and spray it orange or yellow Rustoleum, whichever I found in the garage.
