Century L1A1 sporter...getting the barrel threaded
I bought a Century L1A1 sporter about a month ago. The rifle came with the flash hider, but the barrel is not threaded. Does anybody know of a place close to Greensburg is knowledgeable in FAL type rifles who could do the work? The rifle came with a wooded set of hand guards--they were painted black and I spent a few evenings removing the paint. I put the flash hider on for the photo--it slips over the barrel and isn't held on by anything.

Shoot off a letter to this guy, http://fairfaxfirearmsrepair.com/century-arms-guns/. Kbillado, he rebarreled my cetme that century really screwed up. Turn around was good. I realize it’s a different gun but odd balls are odd balls.

if it slips over the od of the barrel, you are not looking at a threading job.
it's only metal, we can out think it....

Re: Century L1A1 sporter...getting the barrel threaded
The flash hider is threaded. I don't know much about these. What I do know is the flash hider threads on the barrel and has some sort of locking washer. How this works, I do not know. The barrel is a surplus barrel that had the threading removed by Century. There is an indexing notch on the underside of the barrel that still remains. Some how, a locking washer interacts with this indexing mark. There are other options other than threading the barrel, but a threaded barrel might be the best option. I would have to use somebody who has knowledge of FAL rifles.

Re: Century L1A1 sporter...getting the barrel threaded
If the threads where removed by Century it is likely the barrel index slot , ( very much like a woodruff key on a motor shaft ) is in the wrong location if the barrel is shorter due to the thread removal. The index key is for keeping the bayonet lug at the 6:00 O'clock, if you get it simply rethreaded you could use locktite to index it ? I once owned a pinned and welded Aussie flash hider from century I replaced with the conventional Belgian style, luckily my threads and index slot where intact
