Thats a tough question. Self defense, hunting, hunting SMALL game etc..
Im going to go with a .22 Lr 8shot revolver.

I too have to vote for my AR "pistol" - either in 5.56 or the 9mm (that's a tough call as to which one) but if we're talking 1 hand pistols under 10" in overall length I would have to go with my Kimber 1911 . I love my Glock, and my other pistols for various reasons, but if I can only have one, that's it. (can I please keep the .22 conversion for it too ? Pretty please?)

Probably a Glock G19 because you'll be able to get parts, ammo and magazines off of dead FBI agents and military storehouses during a SHTF conditions which is probably the only time you'd be limited to having only one gun.
