Re: *****Harrisburg Rally, 5/6/19*****
Speaking of that hole, yesterday they passed 5 bills late in the afternoon, 4 of them were repealing laws related to road and bridge construction from the 40's, 50's and 60's. Yup, they're right on those current issues. Can't do anything about the TPK going into insolvency, but they have more than enough time to repeal laws from 60 years ago.

Re: *****Harrisburg Rally, 5/6/19*****
I would be interested in what Senator Baker had to say. Last I heard from her she wrote me to defend her vote last session for the gun confiscation provisions in domestic cases, which is now the law. She said that the bill was not about "gun control" but "public safety". Since every gun control measure is advanced as a public safety measure, her logic leads to favoring a lot of gun control.
Did she have an express position on the proposed new Red Flag law? I will follow up with her myself, but I would like to know if she took a position. Similarly, did she comment on the pre-emption issue?

Re: *****Harrisburg Rally, 5/9/19*****
It must have been another of the many rallies/protests from the day, because I did not hear of a single incident with us.
If it did happen, over in the old part of the building on the 4th floor after we visited with Adams County Rep Dan Moul, we passed by an office near the elevator where there was a (I believe) black female assistant yelling at one of "our" guys. He raised his voice and said "I own a shotgun". I'm guessing that was a Democrat Rep's office.
I do not know what they were arguing about but it sounded testy.
OF&U, LifeinPA and I heard the exchange as we passed by. I slowed down and tried to listen for a second.Galations 6:9...And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Re: *****Harrisburg Rally, 5/6/19*****
Only a handful of R's opposed red flag law last session (now Act 79) and the excuse was that it was about 'protecting women'. Obvious BS, but leadership put lots of pressure on all by to move this, for multiple reasons that have already been covered.
Lisa Baker is now Chair of Senate Judiciary. Almost all gun bills go through that committee. My understanding is that she is "pretty good" for us which is a far cry better than Greenleaf who was horrible and who had the job for many years.
The Senate preemption bill (SB 531) was assigned to the Local government committee and has since been sent to the floor for 1st consideration. I suppose that at some point it could get assigned to Judiciary for review. In any case, we need every R and I think about 8 D's to vote yes in order to get a veto-proof majority.Help us restore election integrity in PA. Join PA Voters United

Re: *****Harrisburg Rally, 5/6/19*****
She told us and GOA that she didn't entirely like that bill and voted for it with some reluctance.."but will keep a close eye on where it goes".
We laid out the way that it could be weaponized and used in false accusations and she agreed and understood. Doesn't explain why she voted for it though.
She was shaky on that explanation but did seem solidly against gun control in general.Galations 6:9...And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Re: *****Harrisburg Rally, 5/6/19*****
I used to think her solid on the 2A but her last vote and her defense of it were unsettling.
Here is the text of her response to me.
"Thank you for contacting me regarding House Bill 2060. The material contained in the messages I received prior to the Senate vote caused me to take another look at the proposed changes and to discuss them with individuals in the community and in law enforcement.
There is validity to a number of the concerns expressed. The problem of punitive PFA requests unfortunately does exist. It does not seem, however, that this measure is certain to add to that problem. Concededly, there will be instances where law abiding gun owners incur cost and inconvenience due to a PFA request that is later deemed unwarranted. It happens today and will happen tomorrow, although we all wish it would not.
There is a serious problem with the existing system. Too many women are being killed or severely injured because the family and friend option fails in too many cases to provide the necessary level of protection. These incidents of deadly violence are not few and isolated. While I have not supported a variety of so-called gun control measures because they strike me as excessive or impractical, this piece of legislation seems to be an exception, both needed and workable.
As with many other issues, we have to decide how to fairly balance competing rights. Although this bill is imperfect in some respects, it is an improvement over the current situation.
For me, this was not an anti-gun vote. It was a public safety vote, and that accounts for my support of the bill. Despite our difference of viewpoint on this matter, I greatly appreciate your well-informed advocacy.

Re: *****Harrisburg Rally, 5/6/19*****
I want to thank all that attended this rally. Wish I could have but my health issues dictate otherwise.
Don’t know if this has anything to do with this but in this mornings paper I see where a Rep. Aaron Bernstein R-Lawrence County? has put forth a bill on Monday to do away with the concealed carry regulations and under this bill we would no longer have to apply, those that come from reciprocal states would be able to apply for an optional permit.
If that passes which I think it will not would be a total asset to us.
Just thought I’d pass this along

Yes, there was talk about a Constitutional Carry bill for PA coming very soon. I don't remember if it was Metcalfe or Josh Prince who told us...I think it was Daryl.
Here's what loknload was talking about:

Re: *****Harrisburg Rally, 5/6/19*****
At least at the Federal level, the RINOs have learned how to profit nicely as the minority party pretending to oppose the socialist Democrats. We saw that in splendid form during 2014-2016. The RINOs destroyed the Trump agenda, almost singlehandedly. At the State Level, I suspect we have a fair amount of the same problem. Not having a Republican Governor dooms a lot of initiatives but that is no excuse for not trying. I hope the bill putting teeth into pre-emption gets to Wolf's desk. Let him justify his veto for sanctioning crimes by government against the citizens.
Look at what the Democrats do in Washington and they only hold one Chamber.
