I sure hope the date doesn't get moved. I'm getting ready to switch my shift with a co-worker so I have the entire day off. Also I'm probably going to stay outside for my first rally, I'm just debating what I should sling on my back. I've got a 3 viable options in my opinion, my Stag 2A AR, my new to me Yugo SKS, and my Hatsan Escort Magnum 12ga. One more thing, being that this is my first rally what is the stance on our firearms being loaded? I will be OCing my S&W M&P 9 and it is always loaded, but what is the thinking about the long arms being loaded or at the very least having ammo at the ready for them. Of course I don't expect there to be the sort of trouble that would require me to have loaded mags for my AR, but in this day and age you really don't know anymore.

Its a rally, not war. If its a long gun i wouldnt chamber a round because you wouldnt want to be doing that in a parking deck overlooking the capootal building.

That being said. I dont unload my ar pistol and always carry spare mags for everything on my person.

Can we check long guns at the entrance? I don't know; I've always checked a pistol. I think I'd like to bring my 1894 "Cookie".

This was doscussed a bit last year and iirc i even called capootal polizi.
Pistols only. I think up to 10" was discussed in thread.

I realize we're not walking into a war zone, and I wouldn't have a round chambered, except in my carry pistol. I work within walking distance of the capitol building, I know the area fairly well. Was just curious if anyone carries a loaded mag in the magwell or an empty mag in the rifle with loaded spares on their person. If I carry my shotgun the tube would be loaded, it has a cut off that allows it to be cycled without chambering a shell.

PAFOA members carried a full mag with empty chamber for their long guns at the Pittsburgh rally, at least the ones I talked with. It will most likely be the same for Harrisburg.

My comment was in jest because you mentioned trouble.

Ah ok, hard to spot jest in a comment, especially when you don't use the silly face. I'd call you an old fart that doesn't understand the interwebs but you're younger than me.

That's the way I did it. Loaded mag, empty chamber, spare mag in back pocket.

March, April cold weather and snow possible less people. May, warm weather rain possible, more people.
