That's what most of mine looked like before I carried them.

Really? You would worry about a blemish on a carry piece?

I pushed my OCD to the back and started buying BTDT guns. It's liberating. A Beretta 92FS was one of the first. Whooped. Who does this to a gun, I thought? Cheap as chips, though. And I don't hafta toss and turn at night worrying that I'll put a ding in the gun.

I treat anything I own with care and respect. However, when in the course of human events, dings happen. It's inevitable. I use what I own and any marks, scratches or dings are really character marks.
Look at 50 year old field guns. The bluing is worn in spots, the stock and forend are scratched. Each mark tells a story. I have a friend with an Ithaca 37 that he has owned for over 40 years. He bought it new as a teenager. That gun is beautiful. Well maintained with many stories in the bluing and wood.
Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

Buy carry gun. Fully load it. Drop it onto concrete from holster height. Ends worry about scratches and dings, and tests safety devices, all in one fell swoop.

My guns have earned every bit of holster wear they have. It shows that they're loved.
