Probably not too hard to swallow, as she had to know that the casino's themselves could (and would) implement their own policy, so while she did the "right thing", it means jack shit to anyone who carries.

Get an AG to straighten out DCNR and DMV and I'll be impressed.

A spokesman for Parx Casino said current rules prohibiting guns at the Bensalem racino will remain unchanged.

"The Gaming Control Board can no longer regulate firearms on the casino properties, that is true," said Mark Oppenheimer, spokesman for Parx and Greenwood Gaming. "However, Parx is going to keep in place its policy that no firearms are allowed."

Oppenheimer, who has worked in the gaming industry for 11 years, said he wasn't aware of any casino in the nation that allowed firearms on its property.

I've open carried in two of them around here. Rangers have seen me, I know for a fact, and I've never had a word said. I'm assuming it's very dependant on the individual ranger, but the ones around here don't seem to care. YMMV

I spend a lot of time in the state parks over here on the east coast, and the rangers do care about open carry. But then again, they probably have to hear all the frantic crying from the NY/NJ crowd.

    Lol

I'm sure there's a lot of triggered snowflakes out that way.

IANAL either, but it has been my understanding through my own previous research, that open carry is allowed, though many rangers may not have gotten the memo just like many cops. Specifically, the campground was identified as a place where only cc would be allowed. No, I do not have any info to back this up. As I said, it was a while ago. I know at the time I was confident this was the case. I camp at State Parks about 8 times a year and always cc. I only uncover when out on a trail when I'm perspiring from biking or hiking. If I'm out of the campground, I have uncovered many times. No one has ever said anything. It's the difference between shirt in or out, usually. And there-in lies how ridiculous the whole issue is.

Please note that the statutory language (quoted in post #4) doesn't say "except for campgrounds". It explicitly limits oversight to the authority of the state legislature, and *they* have not enacted any alternative restrictions for campgrounds within state parks either.

Yes, I see that. Thanks for the info. I don't specifically recall where I heard or read that campgrounds were regulated elsewhere. Seems obvious they are. I can sssure this. If you go to the right campground, with the right rangers, you WILL get to find out what the law really says. That's both good and bad. I don't have time for such hobbies. And that's probably the wrong way to look at it.

Actually, as with all of life, the law is irrelevant to what any officer believes they "know". You can show them the black letter law, and they can stand there and say, "Yes, I see that, but my opinion is otherwise." and you are powerless to resist their arrest, even when it's clearly unlawful.

The whole "comply and sort it out later" is rarely a satisfactory solution. Just like private criminal complaints, and official oppression statutes, they are "due process theatre" which allow the government to claim that citizens are protected, when in fact, they are difficult, if not impossible, for the average joe to actually rely on.
