M1 Garand Grease Pot Lubriplate 130-A WWII use

    https://www.ammogarand.com/m1-garand...-wwii1130.html

M1 Garand Grease Pots. Original WWII production with original white/cream colored "Lubriplate" grease. These are used and dirty but are FULL so "as issued" inside, just grungy on outsides.

Lubriplate grease was used during WWII, after the war the darker thick grease was substituted and the Pots were also marked with just "Grease, Rifle" on tops, which are more common.

Those are the original WW-II pots with the original grease. They would be good to have if you are putting a period correct cleaning kit for the stock together but I wouldn't use them on a rifle. They are a collectible and way too expensive to use. I use the more modern grease pots from the 70's that just say rifle grease on the top and have a dark brown grease. But pricing them now I would say they are too expensive too. I bought a case of 144 of them years ago for about $10. Now they are going for $2 each. It is nice to have a few of these pots in your range bag/cleaning kit though and you can just fill them up when they are empty.

If you search lubriplate 130-a you should be able to find a 1 pound can. Or you can just make your life easier and go to the auto store and buy a tub of some cheap high temperature / wheel bearing grease for about $5. It will be a lifetime supply (and then some). Get the cheap stuff, you don't want anything exotic or with Moly in it. It will leave black smudges everywhere.

Found these for $ 1.00 each. They don't show the top of the lid.

Looks like the original WW-II grease which was a lighter colored (lithium based?) grease. The later Vietnam era pots had your standard dark petroleum grease.

Seems like a good price depending on shipping and like I mentioned having some of these small pots around is handy. But they will not make your rifle shoot any better than a $5 a pound auto store grease.

Thanks...Will pick up a few and get to the local store for the bulk stuff.

Also found a seller with some ammo

.30-06 M2 Ball Greek HSP 200 rounds for $ 140. Is this an OK price or where can I find better pricing? I am not into reloading at this point.

    Thanks!

I use garden variety marine white lithium and it seems to do the job nicely.
