Re: M1 Garand's Winchester Receivers
Those are the original WW-II pots with the original grease. They would be good to have if you are putting a period correct cleaning kit for the stock together but I wouldn't use them on a rifle. They are a collectible and way too expensive to use. I use the more modern grease pots from the 70's that just say rifle grease on the top and have a dark brown grease. But pricing them now I would say they are too expensive too. I bought a case of 144 of them years ago for about $10. Now they are going for $2 each. It is nice to have a few of these pots in your range bag/cleaning kit though and you can just fill them up when they are empty.
If you search lubriplate 130-a you should be able to find a 1 pound can. Or you can just make your life easier and go to the auto store and buy a tub of some cheap high temperature / wheel bearing grease for about $5. It will be a lifetime supply (and then some). Get the cheap stuff, you don't want anything exotic or with Moly in it. It will leave black smudges everywhere.Last edited by Delkal; January 6th, 2019 at 05:56 PM.

Found these for $ 1.00 each. They don't show the top of the lid.

Re: M1 Garand's Winchester Receivers
Looks like the original WW-II grease which was a lighter colored (lithium based?) grease. The later Vietnam era pots had your standard dark petroleum grease.
Seems like a good price depending on shipping and like I mentioned having some of these small pots around is handy. But they will not make your rifle shoot any better than a $5 a pound auto store grease.

I use garden variety marine white lithium and it seems to do the job nicely.
