As a life member I say 'yea'. I certainly do not agree with many things they say and do. I do not agree with how they do things at times. What is important is that no other organization has the numbers behind them. If it wasn't for the NRA we would be getting background checks for sling shots and stones. I think other organizations are better at holding the line but none that I have seen has the power of the NRA. I hate the DOT but I still get a drivers licensed buy gas.

I also wouldn't pay my shady neighbor to keep an eye on my house while I was away, even if they suggested something bad will happen if I didn't.

As an endowment member, I sympathize with your dilemma. I can ignore them for right now without consequence.

If it were me, since you have 5 years in, I'd renew. The only way we'll right the ship is if enough of us get angry and start voting. If you let your membership lapse, you have no voice. I believe the leadership is of the same swampy material as are most DC insiders. They need to be drained and replaced with fighters that aren't worried about creating their own personal fortunes.

I have to renew mine if I want to keep my membership at the local range, it's mandatory. I don't know why but I will try to find out.

Life member since Sandy Hook, and we buy a membership in my wife's name every year. But I got a fundraising call the other day and told them to stuff it because bump stocks, and that GOA would be getting a donation instead.

My membership is also up in 2019. I am planning on renewing for reason that if pro gun members leave that would leave just fudds representing the NRA. I am also concerned that anti gun idiots might join in effort to encourage the NRA to become even less aggressive in the 2nd amendment fight or even support more anti second amendment legislation. All it takes is Bloomberg to buy up couple thousand memberships and distribute them to anti gun people with instruction to take down the NRA from the inside.
