    Default Ok I'm convinced

After seeing countless reviews of self defense ammo and accumulated many rounds of Hornady, Speer, Federal and others I have decided to protect my life with Barnes bullets. The test results on these look devastating to the reciever and feel they are worth the extra few cents per round to me. Anybody else on the Barnes bandwagon?

I’ll stick with standard off-the-shelf everyday ammo. I don’t want some over-zealous prosecutor showing a jury the Devastator 6000 with eviscerating ridges bullets made by Holocaust, inc.

Jeeze, is that Barnes ammo is thought of? Hey if it helps me stop a threat well I'll deal with that later when I'm alive and the perp is twitching on the ground.

I could care less what ammo I use. I practice enough it won't matter.

Manxdriver has offered very wise advice. Find out and use what your local PD uses. Then do as Yoder suggests...

Look, I’m not saying Barnes doesn’t make a fantastic product, and I’d probably use it for bear if I hunted seriously for bear. However, killing a bear is far different from a person. A bear will rarely have family that cares enough to hire a lawyer to drag you into a courtroom and play on a jury’s heartstrings about how you murdered their little boy. “ oh it was terrible. He was on his way home from Bible Study, and this horrible man tore him in half with a hand cannon loaded with, OH DEAR JESUS IT TEARS ME UP TO EVEN SAY THE WORDS, Devastator 6000 bullets with those ragged edges that are designed to shred each and every chamber of the human heart, individually and painfully. I even saw a video on YouTube where they shot a pig, or a block of gelatin, I forget which, but it was horrible. That block of gelatin bled for hours, and it wailed in pain, just like my sweet boy”.
Yeah, I’ll stick with the very effective, yet blandly-named offerings from Remington or Winchester.

    OP,
Now that you've had your legal briefing I've never considered Barnes but I do choose Lehigh defense for a couple calibers.

I do carry Barnes tac-xpd 125gr in my .357 mag revolvers. The round is designed for self defense, not bears. I will continue to carry it, despite the fear mongering going on in here.

I’m issued Speer Gold Dots for my service firearm. Off duty I usually carry Federal HSTs or Winchester whitebox hollow points. Paul Harrell did a video on YouTube where he shows it really doesn’t matter if you carry the latest and greatest hollow point technology or “standard” jacketed hollow points from Walmart.

    Shot placement is key.
