Check out lucky gunner labs. They tested several self defense rounds in various calibers.

I been using Black Hills Ammo for the past 7 years and am very happy with it in my Glock 9mm. I use this type of Black Hills:

To quell any vigorous aggressive prosecutor, I carry a .22 CB cap caliber single shot pistol and always aim for the lower legs. As the perp recovers from disbelief that I barely hurt him, I speed dial 911 to contact 911, knowing police will be arriving in minutes. I have my story down pat in apology for how hard it is to obtain .22 BB Caps. I carry in a pocket. Carrying in a holster will invite accusations of premeditation.

I shot half a box and they functioned fine. Also, it's a Glock.

I don't see a problem with FMJ rounds either. I've shot tens of thousands of rounds of reloads with no problems. I know they function. I don't think expansion matters all that much with handguns anyway. Winter clothing used to prevent hollow points from expanding anyway. When I carried FMJ, I was using a 45. A 45 is always .45. It doesn't need to expand.

And don't start talking about "over penetration " with FMJ rounds. It's bullshit. Odds of a pistol round passing through someone and killing someone else are about zero. When you miss six times with your $40/box super tactical amazing ammo because you shoot your gun 10x a year is way more likely to kill a bystander. Another thing, we don't live in a battle zone. Shit is never hitting the fan. Zombies aren't real and you are never getting into an actual gun fight. You might have to shoot someone, but you aren't taking on the bloods by yourself next time you are at Walmart.

It went through his arm, not his chest. Know your target and what's beyond it. Police seem to ignore that every time someone points a gun at them. They just mag dump and hope for the best. Most important thing is coming home safe at the end of the day.

For a long time I carried flat nosed lead wad cutters in my revolver, so my lawyer could say the bullets were designed to only make little holes in paper.

Update.... Know you've been waiting for it. So, never did buy any Barnes Ballistic Body Busters but just saw a great deal on Federal HST 124gr 9mm jhp for $29.95 per 50count from SGAmmo.com and grabbed 3 boxes. When they get here and check out to be ok will probably grab some more. It's almost half price compared to other sources I've seen.
