Speaking in general terms, the crown typically does not allow commoners to 'suppress' the report of our firearms, without first navigating a series of fiery hoops, known to some as NFA.

However, it is permissible to remove an offensive muzzle device, which may be directing the concussion back at the shooter. There are even some muzzle devices which function to direct the muzzle blast downrange, away from the shooter.

Research: 'linear compensators' but recognize that firearms are inherently loud, and as such, hearing protection will remain necessary.

.223 is just a loud round, it's not your Mini14.

It is, right? I think so too.

I still consider .223/5.56 as being new to me. I didn't shoot an AR until I was like 42.

I was surprised at how loud they are, and I've been shooting since I was five.

Is say, a bolt .223 with a 20"+ barrel quieter? I've havent shot any .223's besides an AR, but I would bet that it is.

IMO brakes make guns even louder.

I'm not so sure. I've owned and fired both , and the Mini does sound , different.

On another subject, ya can just point the ejection path toward anyone who tries to sneak up on you. Those fired casings come out hot and a-hellin'!

Mine throws the empties forward. As far as being hot, my 1st semi was a 742 in '06. Empty came out and was spinning on bench, so I grabbed it to prevent it from falling. IMMEDIATE blister on finger, FIL asked if it was heavy.
