I have a 2000 jm Marlin 1894c and love it. I've handled a bunch of the newest Marlin's, and the brand new 1894c's look and feel great. I even got to look at the new threaded barrel offering. It's heavy, but it cycled smoothly and looked great.

Not to get off-topic, but where do you go for hogs?

If your looking for an heirloom quality rifle when it comes to fit and finish then consider Henry.

New Marlin products were all sorts of messed up a few years back since Remington took them over and moved production to their N.Y. facility. Don’t know if that ever was fully resolved but I personally wouldn’t take the chance since I hate what the Freedom Group has done to several solid companies while working with that POS gov in NYS.

Rossi and Umberti are imports I don’t know much about Rossi other then I believe they were recently acquired by Taurus. Umberti makes some of the best high end authentic replica lever action rifles there are and people seem to love them.
Uberti are made in Italy, top notch all the way. Rossi is and always have been made in Brazil and they have always been one in the same with Tarus. (I think). I have a Puma (Rossi made) 44 in stainless, nice gun, very nice wood but required a break in period on the action. After a couple hundred rounds it clickey klak cycles as smooth as Chuck Connors did back in 1958. I'd buy any of the above or whatever wallet permits. The Puma/Rossi 92 clone is as nice looking as any of them with exception to the extra safety on top the receiver. .
