Hahaha No, I just have lots of experience with home renovation.

But to be fair, I'll fess up to my ND. In my defense, it happened decades ago, long before Jeff Cooper's rules, when I was a dumb kid. I popped a round downrange into the ceiling of the high school rifle range. I was lying prone while the coach was talking to us. It was so long ago that I don't remember exactly how it happened.

Do you see a problem with that?

Stupid things happen and you found that out. Dont beat yourself up of it. A hole in the wall is a very small price to pay. Things could have been much worse.

I wonder if plugging a hole in the wall would get my wife to stop talking.

    I find IGNORING them works.

She doesn't even seem to notice that she's being ignored.

Betcha trigger got pulled would be a good guess. Hate it when a coach distracts me.

    (1) Spackle the hole, sand with fine sandpaper when dry.
    (2) Repeat (1) as necessary until perfectly flush, as the spackle may shrink/sink when it dries.
    (3) With an X-Acto knife, cut and peel away a 1"-square sample of the wall paint from behind the couch.
    (4) Spackle/sand the paint sampling location.
    (5) Take the paint sample to Home Depot for color matching with their analyzer.
    (6) Buy a gallon, not a quart, of semi-gloss interior paint.
    (7) Paint the walls with a roller, allow to dry.
    (8) Repeat (7) in the area of the bullet hole util the texture there matches the rest of the wall.

    This is your penance.
Or screw this over the hole:

#1--Glad you are and family are safe, and damage is minimal.
One of my first instructors told us that there are two kinds of folks, ones that have had a ND and ones that will. Thought this was class mumbo jumbo. He then proceeded to tell us about how he put a 357 Sig round into his basement wall. Thought, no way, not him, he is an instructor. No one is immune. Again, good to hear that all are safe and good. Don't beat yourself up too bad about this. And Merry Christmas (Happy Holiday) to everyone.
