There sure hasn't been any shortage of deer around here in the last 5 years, I've hit at least one every fall. If anything they should move it to the Monday BEFORE Thanksgiving, the rut is damn near over by the time rifle season opens anymore.

Bullshit. We are creating generation after generation of pussies. Kids don't go outside anymore. It's uncomfortable. I think this is a good idea, only if they allow Sunday hunting. Otherwise you hunt one day then have to wait until Monday. Sunday hunting would also double the time the average guy gets to hunt.

PGC now has the ability to change this but it's the legislature that needs to change Sunday hunting. Both are coming but not soon enough. I bet we see semi autos before Sunday hunting. Call and write. Make your feelings known.

I'm boycotting PA hunting until the commissioners accept their own study that semis for big game have no extra safety risk. The shenanigan they pulled to restrict semis to small game are unacceptable. I also want the legislators to quit sucking the dick of the farm bureau and remove the restriction on Sunday hunting.

With that said, I'm in favor of a Saturday opener, especially with Sunday hunting opened up. It means the opening of deer season is accessible to more people which may mean more licenses sold. I expect there are some hunters out there that aren't interested in the "sloppy seconds" of the first Saturday in the season being 5 days after the opener.

At this point it really does not matter. I am with Steve from PA. Where I live, the deer numbers are so bad it won't matter. I took note that a lot of the posts are from members in Special Regs areas. I used to live down there and shot the hell out of deer. 30 extra days with a shotgun and an early bow season too and you need more time? I see less hunters out there anymore on huge tracts of public land than you see on 30 acres of woods in Bucks County. Deer hunting is going to die out in this state. You may not believe that, but I was around when small game was king. I saw EXACTLY the same thing happen.
