Re: Gun confiscation Trump WH
I read this as something the school safety commission wants, not Trump. Has anyone seen or heard Trump actually say that he wanted this, or is this strictly overreaction because of "the WH wants" statement?

Re: Gun confiscation Trump WH
In theory, a sane government WOULD take guns away from the obviously deranged folks and then provide fast post-deprivation due process. If someone is minutes away from running amok, you don't schedule a hearing for 60 days later. That would be nuts.
IN PRACTICE, you create a loophole whereby any local fascist can declare his enemies "mentally suspect" and start them down the road to deprivation of rights, possible incarceration, and worse.
If your neighbor was visibly mentally ill, made threats against your dog and your wife and you, to the point that you had to call the cops, would you want the cops to disarm him before having a conversation about how nuts he is? I would. Some will say "no, I'd just shoot him if he came at us", but you've got to sleep and go to work and take a dump sometime, and if you preemptively just gun him down then you're going to jail (and you've also deprived him of liberty and life without due process, so there's that.)
Depending on how you ask the question, most of us here would go either way. "Should your kids' school's Left-wing gun-hating guidance counselor be able to get the cops to take away all your guns just because your kid mentioned having fun at the range?" Nope. "If your neighbor is so scary that everybody he knows just called the cops because he's threatening to shoot up the synagogue on 12th Street, should the police be able to take his guns while he's being evaluated?" Maybe.
I think there's a middle ground, something that avoids the current post-Keyes deprivation of rights for 302 recipients, but also avoids the repeated situation where "everybody knew he was a ticking time bomb but nobody could do anything." That insane kid who shot up the Newtown school, maybe his mother shouldn't have bonded with him at the gun range and ignored his death obsession. Good post Phil, as usual... “middle ground”
No one wants to lose or see others lose their rights as a result of an expert (subjective) opinion from a Psychiatrist (MD). Nevertheless, many of us know individuals who have no business possessing firearms... truly a dilemma.
The question is, are we comfortable with our free society where a whack-job flying under the radar can go postal and shoot up a shopping mall? For me, the answer is yes.

The Demoncrats are going to make impeachment their No 1 goal, fuck everything else. Only way Trump survives - and gets his wall - is if he throws the 2A under the bus.
Given Trump's NYC past - maybe impeachment and his resignation is what we need.
Lets face it - we voted Trump because he wasn't Hillary among others, not because he was a fucking genius.
The curious blender-puree'd concoction of Rodney Dangerfield, Don Rickles, Andrew Dice-Clay, and Sam Kinnison rolled into one non-politician suffering from Tourette's was new and refreshing while it lasted.
But he twittered away 2 years of Republican-controlled .gov when he could have been mending fences and building bridges in the RINO party. At the least, we could have had a few pro-2A poisen-pill bills set up to keep the 2A intact if the house turned - as it did, but no. We are now worse off than under Oboingo in terms of the 2A.All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.
