    Default Flap holsters

    Anybody use one while afield?

I'm thinking about buying/making some for my revolvers for use while out in the bushes to keep snow and twigs and crap from falling down in my gun's action.

And I realize that it will be slower to draw, but getting debris in the holster is far more likely than me needing to draw rapidly.

Who uses them and let's see some photos!

No pics, But fwiw I used both the M1911 and M9 GI holsters for years. The served very in the field. I don't use a flapped holster afield here because my sidearm is nearly always protected by a jacket or coat. Even during the winter. I believe I've see flapped revolver holsters You might try here for a start https://www.americasgunstore.com/tri...r-flap-holster

    Thanks guys!

I was looking at the Triple Ks already and have interest. I know some folks who swear by the chest packs, but I sweat like a mujere de la noche en iglesias, so I don't wear stuff over my chet that I can't vent.

OK but using a flap holster with a snap or Button closure like the old GI M1911 holster, you need not think that you cannot do a relatively fast draw. Unfortunately it takes longer to explain than to do. You simply use the flap in same manner as Policemen of old were trained to use the strap (before the days of the thumb-break). The idea is to put your hand with fingers extended against the holster below the flap or snap and moving your hand up hit the flap or snap under the strap and between the holster and strap that releases the snap and as your hand continues up to grasp the revolver grip it clears the flap (strap) and you're free to complete the draw.
