Default Question re holders of LTCF

Recently, the sheriff of Bucks County said he needed additional deputies to properly investigate applicants for LTCF.

I presume that would require the County officials agree and furnish the funds.

Were i on that panel, I would ask, "Over the past five years, how many LTCF holders have committed a crime or used their handgun in untoward manner?"

Also, I wish the next time journalism decides to do another gun piece, that question would be asked.

Another question I'd like to see media ask is, "Is there any correlation between criminal behavior and the number of guns owned?".

Yeah there probably is an inverse correlation - more guns, more law abiding....

Bucks County handled records amounts of LTCF applicants with fewer sheriff's. I never waited more than 30 minutes.

    Devil's advocate time:

Sheriff wants to spend more time investigating *before* they become LTCF holders. A more relevant question, IMO, would be, "Over the past five years, how many LTCF applicants were denied based on investigation beyond a clean PICS check?"

One could argue, on excellent grounds, that the reason LTCF holders are so law abiding is that they are investigated so thoroughly and a license is only granted to people who are already law abiding. If everyone was given a license to carry on their 21st birthday the crime rate for LTCF holders would be the same as the general population. Having the license does not turn you into a good guy, rather you have to be a good guy to get a license.
