Re: Optics - Need Info on Short Distance Options - AR15
I still don't understand why they have a "focus ring" if there's no magnification.
Is that just to make the etched reticle appear in focus - adjusting for different vision and varying eye relief distances?

Re: Optics - Need Info on Short Distance Options - AR15
For a rather inexpensive 1-4x, it gets fairly positive reviews.
Gotta factor in that most reviewers are kids, noobs, cheap bastards, or people expecting $1,000 quality, so you have to take them with a grain of salt, but there seem to be enough people who sound like they know what they are talking about who have had luck with it.
For $60 shipped from Amazon or Walmart, it's certainly something I'm willing to try out if I decide to go with a 1-4x.
Comes with a mount too!
Found the reticle...

Yep. Well not quite a newb here but i can keep a decent group with the 45/70 at 100 yards and it hasn't lost zero yet. And it hits pumpkins at 25 yards.
I'd give it 5 stars based on quality for cost.
Shipped from Wal-Mart.

Whopping 10% discount starts after 90 days.
That's the scope you said was on a rifle you bought at a gun show or something?
Funny, I don't recall what GUN it was on, but I must have liked something about the scope to prompt me to ask you about it at the shoot.
Probably because it had a little magnification and I had been pondering that for a little while now.
Holding up to 45/70 recoil is a pretty good endorsement in itself.

Its sitting on a Stainless Marlin lever gun. Got the gun used at Big Buck after I bought a 9mm carbine in their parking lot.
Scope came mounted on the gun.www.Steelvalleycasting.com is your new home for coated bullets and custom ammo.

I just ordered one of these on Amazon.

I figured for the price, it won't make me cry if I don't like it, and if I DO like it, I can keep it for another rifle, and get a better brand in this same style of scope.
