Re: Kimber 1911 front sight issue
Using a small ball pien machinist's hammer and a suitable punch, with the slide in a padded vice, slightly bend the fore and aft "ears" of the milled dovetail downward.
That will tighten the dovetail relationship. Put a drop of LocTite in each groove and install the sight left to right, centering it, or matching witness marks if any.
Or....you could make a series of prick punch marks on the bottom of the milled dovetail. That will knurl it and raise the floor of it, tightening the fit, without a mark on the visible parts. Secure with LocTite.

I shouldn't joke around when something like that happens, sorry. I know you're probably pretty pissed and disappointed. I would send it back to Kimber and have remedy the problem and let them know when you pay that much money for a pistol the front sight shouldn't just fall off.

Yeah, if the cabin had electricity, I would never have seen it. You know, until I went to fire at a target . Then it's too late.

Re: Kimber 1911 front sight issue
Personal preference but, if you dimple the bottom of the slot, it pushes the sight up revealing a crack between the bottom of the sight and the slide.
Locktite works, but you will have to tap the sight hard enough to dent it if you ever want to remove it- or you need to heat it which will ruin the vial with the isotope of tritium inside.
Rockset bond dissolves overnight if you leave the slide upside down in a shot glass of water- no fuss no muss.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

Called Kimber. “Oh well, that is not good. Sending you a RMA and a prepaid shipping label. We are going to get that back to you real quick too. Really sorry for your trouble!”
Wow, great customer service is still alive!

Nice turn around time. I had a within a week turnaround from charter arms once. Some American gun companies know how to take care of the customer. Remington took 2 years with no word for the R51.
