Despite the testers praise, the video shows bare minimum acceptable penetration in bare gel and anemic velocity, yielding under 300 ft/lb of kinetic energy.

Out of curiosity, what do you carry? I could be persuaded to switch if the test results warrant it.

Fed hst 124g+p deeper penetration, more expansion, more velocity, more ft/lb energy. Better in every way.

Edit: here is some information I found helpful: https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/sel...sts/#standards

I am happy with the results of the HST also.

Can we try Critical Defense on your other calf for a comparison?

Perhaps I'm alone on this, but I wouldn't use +p in a micro 9. Too much bite for fast and accurate follow-up shots. YMMV.

+1 on this. That is the main difference, defense is meant for sub-compact and compact barrels/slides, duty is for full size barrels/slides. I use the defense rounds in my G26

The 124gr standard pressure HSTs also seem to perform quite well.

Critical duty is designed for barrier penetration. Critical defense is marketed for its ability to deliver modest expansion despite anemic velocity.

Personally, I have never felt handicapped in regard to accuracy or speed, shooting any defensive 9mm loading I have tried (in a Glock 26 or 43.) So I do not see the benefit of shooting watered down critical defense. After all, no matter how hot you load it, we just aren't talking about 44 mag here, its 9mm.

No thanks, one test is enough.
