    Just sayin,

Nope, never suggested anything illegal. I was referring to cases where wives or other family members sometimes find things after a passing and dispose of them thru ignorance.
Thanks for the heads up, I didn't expect that post to get nothing more then a chuckle or two.

Not that it pertains to this particular set of circumstances, just something to keep in mind. Some think they are home free if, for example, the handgun was manufactured say 1959, prior to the NFA. The PSP has records of sales going back to approximately 1923. Unless it is known that the handgun is a bring-back or came in from out of state, it may be on PSP record of sale involving its original purchaser.

    Citation of law?

§6111 - Sale or transfer of firearms criminalizes the seller or transferror when an extra-legal transfer takes place, NOT the recipient. So long as the OP is not a prohibited person, and his story is accurate, he is not "in illegal possesssion", NOR did he violate the law requiring FFL involvement when he took possession of the firearm.

So, the gun I took to va. and sold there 30 years ago would still show up as owned by me, if the current owner showed up in PA.? Someone with more bucks than me has to challenge this ridiculous illegal registration system as far as they can. Maybe the NRA?
