    Default Getting a new 1911.

Currently shopping around, looking for some suggestions on a 5" barrel 1911 in .45 ACP. What do you like?

It's impossible to make a recommendation without knowing your budget.

For a really new 1911, I'd get a Springfield Arsenal in the milspec configuration.

My next 1911 will be a Springfield with a long slide 6" barrel. I may go with a 10mm since I have always had Colt NMs and Gold Cups in 45 acp. I bought a pre 70 Series National Match Colt, NIB, when I was 16 years old from my Dad's best friend. I paid $100.00 for it.

Dan Wesson is the best bang for the buck IMO.

I'd agree with that statement. They're hard to beat for the money if you have 1000 or more. Budget is going to dictate this more than anything. There's tons of options out there in all price points.

Another good buy for the money is the Ruger 1911's, if you can't swing the Dan Wesson's.
