Default Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto pushing for bans on assault weapons and more.

Not sure if this has been posted in other threads, and I haven't seen much on it anywhere else:

I don't live in the city, even though I have a Pittsburgh street address, but this sort of push is happening a lot right now. And it will probably end up worming it's way out to other areas. I still don't understand how the 2nd amendment can be interpreted in a way that "well, THESE guns should be banned because they hold more ammo/look scary".

Any gun law the city tries to pass is in clear violation of state law.

Peduto is an idiot and needs to stay in his (bike) lane.

We know that and HE knows that.

Thing is, he doesn't CARE and these people have gone as far as standing in front of a microphone and acknowledging it, and saying that they don't care - that "we MUST do SOMETHING to stop this gun violence."

Just another Jim Crow like law as the urban states and cities build a network of unconstitutional laws that will take 100 years to unravel.

Exactly. He want's to become a figurehead for this, and talk to everyone's fears about mass shootings. Yes, mass shootings are terrible, but it's the outliers that are doing this. And punishing legal gun owners/future gun owners by restricting firearms is straight up unconstitutional. He has a background in these sort of crowd sourcing movements, and he just wants to push the message to other officials that could enact state/federal laws. I've never really had a problem with him, and honestly he doesn't really affect much outside (or really inside) of the city, but this is wrong.

Since the late 1800's just over 500 Americans were killed in mass shootings in schools. In 2015 alone more then 3000 kids 18 and under died in car accidents due to distracted driving.

Yes mass shootings are unacceptable and need to be dealt with however maybe we need to actually put things into perspective and make changes that actually matter while not shitting on our protected rights.

Neither cars or cell phones have been banned due to the disgusting amounts of deaths both have caused when mixed but plenty of things have been done that try and mitigate deaths.

We have two D Bags as Mayors of our biggest cities. I don't know who is worse Peduto, or Kenney.

More than that died on 9/11/01 and I haven't heard a peep about banning jumbo jets.

Per state law, at what point does he officially violate state law and what are his potential repercussions? Who would be able to bring charges against him?
