I think you are spot on. Video games have replaced outdoor playing, and role playing by kids. It is more graphic, more violent, and doesn't show the permanent, and devastating outcome of violence.

It also does not have the person to person human interaction of playing with a group of friends.

Does anyone recall the snub nosed revolvers with a metal cylinder that opened so you could load these round plastic percussion style caps? They were fairly loud and seldom misfired. I had given-up cap guns until they came out! IIRC, I bought two as I think I lost the first one. They lasted too if you took some minimum care. Don't know who made them, but kudos and thanks for the memories!

I had one. Yes, they worked well. The gun was black, but the cylinder was grey. Loved the smell of them also, but loved the smell of regular caps too. These were all standard issue to kids in the 1960's.
