If you mean "Can it be restored to being a fully operational machine gun", then, no.

It would need to be rebuilt on a new receiver by someone who knows how to convert this to a semi auto. Your looking at a hell of a lot of money from a builder how specializes in doing this.

If it was built by man, it can be repaired by man

And made functional select-fire machine gun for ownership by an individual like you or me?

    NO. Against a 1986 law.

As Hodgie wrote, at considerable cost it could be rebuilt into a semi-auto only but you would have to find a gunsmith who could do it by making a number of specialized parts. The cost would be prohibitive; thousands of dollars, maybe as much as $10,000-$15,000 or more.

A certain type of Federal Firearms Licensee ("SOT") could possibly make it a functional machine gun again if the rest of the parts could be found, but even in that event, the weapon could only be possessed by that FFL-SOT or sold to another FFL-SOT, or to a law enforcement agency. Not you or me.

That's it in a nutshell. If you made an "investment", you can sell the parts to a collector or owner of another StGw 57 that was made prior to May 1986, or to an FFL-SOT interested in buying the parts, or to an individual such as yourself who just wants to have a bunch of cool pieces of steel and plastic.

Buy you can NEVER, under any circumstances, "repair" that yourself into a fully functional machine gun except under penalty of $250,000 fine and 10 years in prison if convicted of possession of an illegal machine gun.

They can be converted to semi auto as some were imported that way from what I’ve read.
