    This happened to me over muzzleloader opener as well, shot a big doe, and she just wandered off. No blood and no obvious sign of a hit. Few minutes later I got a call on the radio of a deer with two holes (another guy had shot her and she went down)

    Guy who put her down tagged her, but, certainly made me feel better about myself thinking how in the world I missed that shot

    Last shooter tags it. If I am in a crowded area, near a river, or a steep gorge, I shoot it in the shoulder and drop it there.
